The Greatest American Hero reboot lead is based out of India

The Greatest American Hero reboot lead is based out of India: The Greatest American Hero is being rebooted with a new twist of a female lead.

The cult classic of 1980 The Greatest American Hero is being rebooted, at ABC. The original show was about an unassuming white man who was given an alien super suit that allowed him to save the world. This version has the same basic premise except with a big twist of suit granted to Meera, a 30-year old Indian American woman.

As the deadline reported that In this new series, Meera would be “from Cleveland whose talents include tequila drinking, karaoke and not much else. Then some aliens entrust her with a super suit to protect the planet, and the world has never been in more weak hands.”

Rachna Fruchbom and Nahnatchka Khan are being helmed in for this sci-fi dramedy project. ABC has given the green light for the put-pilot deal, which means it will at least air the first episode.

The show’s rights holders have tried to reboot it a few times in the past, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller but none of them have made it to air. It would be a welcome addition to see a woman from Indian origins leading a cult classic TV Show.

Priyanka Chopra from Indian roots is already proving grounds with her action packed show ‘Quantico, ‘ and we hope that this show can also stand with the classic and take up a great Indian actress to be the next American hero.
